Ahaha no way.

Rowan – a brand whose marketing seems firmly grounded in an idyllic image of bougie England – several years ago released a pattern called ‘Gramsci’.

Gramsci. The Marxist philosopher. The guy who wrote at length about how culture can normalise and maintain the ideology (and power) of the dominant class. Culture like, say, the aspirational content of a Rowan magazine?

@RuthSalter that's hilarious. also the yoke is intriguing. also the dratted thing was a printed exclusive from 2019, which is awful because I kind of like it and would happily call it my marxist anti-culture cardigan.

also i think i'm already figuring out how that yoke works and for some reason I want to mash it up with a half circle lace shawl like Evenstar

all right i'm in fine squirrel form this morning

@clpolk The yoke is certainly something, I’m not sure I like it though, it looks like it fits a bit awkward? But I do like your idea to use it as a jumping-off point!

@RuthSalter well i think it's like a circular yoke, which i don't really enjoy on pullovers (i think i have too much bosom for it) and this one looks awkward because of the visible increases kind of spiraling a bit. paired double increases or alternating the position on increase rows would be better.

but I just thought about doing it in lace for the stevie nicks vibe and I like it a lot.

@clpolk Aw yeah that sounds right! I think adding a few short rows to bring up the back neck would also help.

Ooo, here for anything Stevie-Nicks-ified ☺️
