looks like twitter is making some attempts to cut down on impersonation accounts by using a new font for twitter handles. note the slashed 0 and the tail on the l.
@molly0xfff it always bugged me that more software doesn't use fonts like that for usernames and passwords
@mattcrwi @molly0xfff is there a name for the standard of distinguishing l, I, 0, 0, |, 1...?
@molly0xfff comedy is legal on twitter again
@molly0xfff next stop: Cyrillic?
@molly0xfff Thats probably not their worst idea over the past couple of months.
@molly0xfff a very rare simple and correct change. every social media service should do something like this imo
@molly0xfff do you think that could be Atkinson Hyperlegible?
Download the Atkinson Hyperlegible Font | Braille Institute

A new typeface – greater legibility and readability for low vision readers Atkinson Hyperlegible font is named after Braille Institute founder, J. Robert Atkinson.  What makes it different from traditional typography design is that it focuses on letterform distinction to increase character recognition, ultimately improving readability.  We are making it free for anyone to use!

@molly0xfff I’m reminded of the old PayPaI scam (which is still certainly around today.) Google could take a lesson here. Serifs.

@molly0xfff Sites that do this make me very happy, this is a surprisingly good thing to see
@molly0xfff What if it's not a measure against impersonation, but a nice new feature for the few who use hexadecimals in their names? 😜
@molly0xfff A Musk change that is actually a good idea? Where's my fainting couch?
@molly0xfff
Now they have to use Ø instead.
@molly0xfff Pour one out for this parody account.
@molly0xfff You know what? Good for them for once.
@molly0xfff ten years late, but it’s something.

@molly0xfff > the slashed 0

As God Intended for hexadecimal constants

@molly0xfff Unrelated, but I am ashamed to admit that I only just now noticed the last name joke in your handle.
@a, I'm sorry to say it, but you're not alone. It took your post for me to realize it. D'oh!
@molly0xfff @troyhunt A topic you've talked about at times is scammers using similar looking fonts (I remember one where a google impersonator had the l as a i or something like that) - slashed zeroes would help a lot!
@molly0xfff this font appears to be the Atkinson Hyperligible font recently released into the public domain by the Braille Institute of America. It's designed to assist the visually impaired. I support and encourage more widespread use. If this is the case it's a great move.
@molly0xfff discord attempted this in a much more hack way recently that sort of butchered the alignment of characters across the whole application
@molly0xfff awww, as someone whose username starts with `l` that really makes me wish they’d done it years before! 😒
