Wow! @ivory on the front page of the AppStore. Apple really on team mastodon. Love to see this!

@breadandwater @ivory Haven't been here long, but this is awesome to see! Ivory and Mastodon are great so far, and the more people, the merrier!*

*If we have enough room

@babloid the cleanest mastodon experience I’ve had in iOS. I’ve been loving my experience
@breadandwater @ivory can't even get past the sign in page.
@eighthdayarts @ivory on Ivory? If I remember you select which instance your account is on then you ask to sign on with your credentials.

@breadandwater @ivory

Yes, but for some reason when I get to the screen where I enter my credentials, the keyboard won't pop up on my iPad

@eighthdayarts @breadandwater @ivory Reboot your iPad, that's an issue that's been happening across many app login screens recently, the iPad just decides it's not going to give you a keyboard and you have to reboot it to fix it.

@shana @breadandwater @ivory

thanks I did that, and then again when I downloaded the latest OS. I'm kinda hoping it fixes itself :)

@eighthdayarts It happens to me every time I update the OS, like once, then it stops happening ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
@breadandwater does Apple have an official account yet?
@mbwelch @breadandwater great question
I don’t think so
But would be interesting to see if they start their own instance or they jump on an existing one.
@machocam I would think they’d start their own as proof the account is real. Also as an official place for their executives to post. A really interesting idea would be if they opened it to the public and essentially took on Twitter!
@mbwelch that would be super cool. Seems unlikely though.
@breadandwater @ivory I’m loving Ivory so far. Glad to see it get some attention.
@StatisticallyHuman indeed, very smooth Mastodon experience!
@breadandwater more to the point Apple are team Tapbots due to the solid income stream they offer. (Which is OK…it’s not that Apple are necessarily pro-Mastodon.)
Phil Schiller confirms he's now on Mastodon

Following all the mess happening to Twitter after the company was acquired by Elon Musk, Apple Fellow and former Apple...

9to5Mac
@Norobiik @breadandwater cool and all…however someone leaving twitter for the trunk isn’t exactly against trend.
@breadandwater @ivory it’s a really nice app tbf
@SocksPls @ivory the cleanest mastodon experience I’ve had by far and it’s only their initial roll out
@breadandwater it’s too bad I’m stuck on the TestFlight version because I run old iOS :) but I’m still really excited to see how they build from here, I love their UI style
@breadandwater @ivory I am clueless about tech, but trying to keep up, and can see people think Ivory is good for Mastodon users. Why is it better than my original App? If I use it, am I in pocket of some wicked Apple mastermind?
#Ivory #MastodonMigration

@ORIOliver @breadandwater I think that’s a fair question. It might not be for everyone but @ivory is built by the same people who created Tweetbot. That was credited as one of the driving forces behind popularising Twitter and brought some beautiful design, UX and features to Twitter apps. Ivory is a large step into having the same innovation in features and experiences come to Mastodon.

Tapbots are smart and have a lot of community trust, but they’re not some evil Apple masterminds.

@ORIOliver better is subjective. The beauty about mastodon is the choice of options you have. Let that be the instance itself or the app you use to interact with. I think all of the paid apps give you a free trial period to try it out and allow you to form your opinion. Give it a try and see!
@breadandwater @ivory is 'Ivory for Mastodon' by Asko Nõmm the Android equivalent?
@loudfpv I have not used mastodon on android so I can’t comment on that, sorry!
@breadandwater @ivory @rolle it’s actually a really good app so it’s well deserved!
@breadandwater @ivory having great graphic design is sure to help too 😉
@StrangeNoises @ivory don’t you just love it when things just work and work so well lol
@breadandwater @ivory Musk has pissed off the big dogs lol
@breadandwater glad to see this!
@Chimaera it’s such a clean and seamless experience and it’s only just the initial roll out. Thoroughly impressed by the app.
@breadandwater @ivory unfortunately it’s way too expensive for an ongoing subscription when there are perfectly good apps that are free or have a one off small payment option that do just as good a job.
@TheBard and that is your choice! It’s one of the many beauties of mastodon. So many options and ways to go about it. It’s awesome.
@breadandwater @ivory Ill stay with @tootapp do not like part "If you choose not to subscribe, Ivory will still work but will function in a read-only mode where you won’t be able to Post, Follow, Fave, etc."
@Madiator2011 @ivory @tootapp toot is amazing as well! It’s so great we have options here.
@breadandwater @ivory @tootapp Though im not fan of paywalling basic functions behind a paywall. I understand subscribtion in case app uses external servers or bring some aditional improvments.
@breadandwater @ivory great!. Can't wait for the full launch
@breadandwater @ivory
I'm new to Mastodon. How does Ivory differ from the Mastodon app? #newbie

@ClinicalNovellas welcome to mastodon!

Apps differ in how well they perform and present the different capabilities of mastodon such as how to switch accounts or view different feeds.

The great thing about mastodon is there’s dozens of different apps to try. The ones that cost money such as ivory usually have a free trial. So once you’ve gotten more aquatinted with mastodon you could give those different apps a try and see if you like them.

Thoughts on Twitter, Mastodon, and owning your data

PaulStamatiou.com
@breadandwater Thanks. It’s a very thorough, often subjective assessment. If I understand correctly, a third-party tool appears more useful to people with many followers trying to navigate multiple servers.
@breadandwater @ivory isn't appstore promote apps that should lit interest in you? I'm almost sure that the app is not shown to anyone but you
@k1ake @ivory no it’s been seen by others. Might depend on country though. If you’re in the US, open the App Store and open the apps tab.

@breadandwater @ivory not from us and got no apple device :P

So if that's a thing it's really pleasant to know that more people get noticed about mastodon
