Little did they know that web standards, open protocols, and decentralization would make a breakthrough -- yet again.

No, e.g. customer support call centres, understaffed, underpaid, employ people outside the country of the customer base, reduce staffing even more and replace with website chat bots and talking phone bots, how is any of this aligned with the interests of customers or staff?!
