Hey all, would appreciate a post boost on this one.

I, unfortunately, got laid off last week and am looking for a new job!

If you know of any going that fits my skillset of video content creation, educational CG writing, CG generalist then I'd love to hear about it! I'd love to stay working remotely, but I'm located in Scotland near Glasgow if there is anything around there too.

@blenderbrit Oh no, sorry to hear that 😑 I've heard that LinkedIn isn't too terrible these days, might be worth poking around to see if there's anything.
@thecgnerd Yeah, LinkedIn is definitely on my todo list this week. Right after updating my CV and crying in the shower :D
@blenderbrit Arg, bloomin doughnut man. Happy hunting, I'm sure you'll be fine, onwards and upwards 💪
@blenderbrit
Good luck: happy to boost but it might help if you say what part of the country / world you are looking for?
@blenderbrit I wish you all the Best. Fingers crossed!

@blenderbrit Heads up: there is a tool called @flockingbird that can help find jobs or express your interest in finding a job on Mastodon. Details in my earlier post here: https://aus.social/@ajsadauskas/109719069603063996

You can find the website here: https://search.flockingbird.social/

And add yourself using the hashtags jobs and getfedihired.

AJ Sadauskas (@[email protected])

Looking for a new job, or want to hire someone? Sick of the toxic culture on LinkedIn and other job boards? Want an alternative that integrates with Mastodon? It's time to check out Flockingbird! How it works is that Flockingbird (@[email protected] ) scans the Fediverse for posts with job-related posts (such as "jobs", "getfedihired", "vacancy", etc.) Those job posts are then searchable on the Flockingbird website ( https://search.flockingbird.social/ ). It's definitely worth checking out! #TwitterMigration #Mastodon #FediTips #Tips #Fediverse

@ajsadauskas @blenderbrit we don't have the part where you can list yourself as job seeker, though.

Indexing profiles needs thorough implementation to avoid privacy conflicts. We did not implement it thoroughly yet. So removed it for now.
We do index all job listings, still, though.

@flockingbird @blenderbrit Just out of curiousity, is there a list somewhere of the hashtags that make jobs appear on Flockingbird?

Is it just hashtag job/jobs/vacancy? Or are there others?

@ajsadauskas @blenderbrit there are others.

They are in the open source repo¹, but we chose not to advertise the whole list, so we have some freedom to tune this. We change them often. # vacancy is the only one we'll guarantee ;)

@ajsadauskas @blenderbrit forgot to ask: are there tags you think we should include, that we missed?
@blenderbrit Hi Bill, Good luck with your search.

@blenderbrit

As long as you promise (or at least consider the ramifications) to use the word #Fediverse, instead of mastodon, except when specifically referring the the server platform itself, I'mma happy to help and boosting you right now 🙂

Okay you're on the honor system, coz obviously, you never actually agreed so my demand is unenforceable, but do please consider that there's no such thing as a mastodon network > it's the "Fediverse" 👍

@blenderbrit Bill That’s beautiful work! I’ve been in 3d since my first job at Alias Research (Maya) - best of luck to you!

@blenderbrit it can pay to spend some of your new free time to diversify your skillset. Use LinkedIn to see what's in demand these days and add anything interesting to your "to-do" list there. Often employers can't find someone who has all the skills they need, but if someone has some of the skills and show an interest in learning the rest, that can be enough to get the next job.

@blenderbrit So sorry to hear you are out of work. Have you considered making a Udemy course while you are looking for what’s next?
@blenderbrit I wish you the best of luck with your job search!

@blenderbrit that sucks, man. It's happened to me twice in the last 18 months so I sympathise. Good news is there's lots out there for a man of your talents.

As others have suggested, LinkedIn is worth the effort - spring for Premium, too. You can alwaus cancel once you're sorted.

How are your motion design skills? I see lots of those sorts of jobs around.

@blenderbrit Wishing Good luck with your work endeavors.
@blenderbrit Maybe try Bristol. My brother works remotely there.
I've been too sick to work lately but he says there is more work than ever atm.
@blenderbrit www.gracklehq.com is a great resource for jobs
@blenderbrit good luck to you. I’m sure there’s a wide market for freelancing in your specialty.
