the main thing stopping me from hosting my own mastodon instance.. not sure what domain to use. .social? .com? (I like having that one redirect to my site) .design?

feels a bit long to be [email protected] but probably what I'm leaning towards. i worry that user search would not work well if my username wasn't stammy and people first tried searching for that?

@stammy You can use webfinger to help with searching for all sorts of variations of your username. I believe.

@cdevroe yea I have that setup at the moment for my main site if you try searching for [email protected] but it only helps if someone types out the full domain with some username

@stammy thanks for the confirmation. I will be setting up my own instance in the near future. Waiting to see if the project gets a little efficiency attention.
