The China Media Group's #ChineseNewYear 2023 Gala has begun @ 1200z, and there are A LOT of radio stations in the country that are carrying it.
Per my monitoring, CNR1 is carrying it in its entirety. Won't list the frequencies, way too many of them, esp. w/ #jammers lol
CNR2 is NOT carrying it
CNR5 Taihai Zhi Sheng to Taiwan does have it on 549 765 837 1116 5925 7385 9410 kHz
So is CNR7 Cross-Strait Radio, somewhat noisy on 13770 AM, heard almost globally
On SDRs both in Europe & Asia, found more #shortwave relays of China Media Group #ChineseNewYear 2023 Gala on:
Xizang PBS 7450 kHz, with 4820 6050 7240 to arrive to Europe later
Qinghai PBS 9780 kHz
but NOT Voice of Strait, run by People's Liberation Army towards Taiwan, on 666 783 4900 kHz (4940 inactive atm). Both Chinese & Amoy channels are in the same programme, however.
Looking at #mediumwave dial of Chongqing🇨🇳 #KiwiSDR, found the gala on many frequencies; apart from CNR1 (639 1008 1377 1593 kHz etc.) the selection includes:
891 Ningxia PBS
918 Shandong PBS
1152 Hunan PBS (captured)
1449 UNID, pres. Dongying rather than Fujian
And what if you want to actually *watch* the Gala live?

Isn't it strange that CCTV is carrying the #ChineseNewYear gala on as many as 8 out of 18 channels they have? (they're numbered 1-17 & 5+)

A few minutes after 1300z, Shaanxi PBS on 747 kHz started its own #ChineseNewYear gala. Interesting in fact, as it is considered that with 100mln+ viewership, there's NO competition to CCTV/China Media Group gala, despite sometimes obvious political influence... 🤔 #mediumwave #YearOfTheRabbit #Chunwan
Oh, MWlist says this Shaanxi PBS channel is actually Chinese Opera Radio. 50kW, but with "10kW?" note, from Xi'an, so DXworthy in better (i.e. less sunspotty) days 😉
Now looking at Vietnam, 11720 kHz is blocked by a CNR1 jammer on 11715. The #ChineseNewYear gala is heavy on all sorts of sounds including music & audience ovation, so with this #jammer's 8kHz sidebands, it's hard to pick up even a single word on 11720 🙄
And on 9635, not only CNR13 Kazakh service is splattering onto it, short-wave.info says KSDA is there in Chinese... #shortwave
