I know I was shouting to the choir, but anyone interested in the downward decline of this issue should be raising their voice and fist in defiance. We cannot stay silent. I was raised as a white guy by my parents to be color blind. I have my friends backs who are black. They know it cuz I've declared it. Integration happened at my h.s. in 1965. It was not a slap in my face at all. As an athlete, we became team mates. I'm all in! carry on.

it will have to come from within FL & I'm not sure, since I live in TX, that Floridians are up to that kind of challenge. I am sort of relying on what I've read that DeSantis is not very well thought of outside of Florida. Perhaps he isn't and this may end him....some things he insists on trying aren't legal federally, so he may find himself jeopardizing himself with some of his junk. I certainly hope he is digging his own grave politically. carry on

if it is any consequence, one of the FL Congressmen fell 25 feet off his ladder while trying to trim tree limbs around his FL house this last weekend. He'll be okay, and says maybe in future he'll hire an immigrant on his way to D.C. the job instead. (satire in that last part) carry on.

The main thrust of Desantis' political theater is primary grade education. He's trying and succeeding to convincing the parents of white grade school children that their kids are be "groomed' by homosexuals or being made to feel guilty about how people of color are being treated. He has treated young kids as lab rats in testing how contagious Covid is and has said there are allowable "loses" in keeping schools open at the height of the pandemic. And yet Floridians love him

I agree. #desantis is a dangerous fascist. Let's not forget how many in 2015 thought that Donald Trump running for president was a laughing matter. He was elected, he did enormous damage and he nearly overthrew our #democracy. But he delivered for his donors: a budget-busting tax cut for billionaires and a #christofascist #scotus for religious fanatics. #desantis promises more of the same. @Sunspot @ragle @Annaeus Someone usually rolls up and tells people not to worry about DeSantis, something like what was said above, that he lacks “national appeal.” I’ve seen that in the press, too.

As we’ve seen and see on the GOP radar, they don’t need or want a candidate with national appeal. The system they support doesn’t require it.

Gerrymandering, voter suppression, voter replacement, and the electoral college see to that.

That's true. But what we need is for everyone who is NOT a right winger to take the threat of #fascism seriously and ALWAYS show up to #vote. The "Red wave" pundits predicted didn't happen because freedom-loving voters, especially women and POC, were outraged by the #gop's attacks on women's rights and civil rights and VOTED, defying suppression efforts. We need to stay outraged. Right wingers are an angry minority. Time for the angry majority to push back.

Right now the Republicans could throw up someone less arrogant and irritating than DeSantis with 80% of the same policies as they'd fly under radar very easily.

As we're all aware the driver for this is the great fear of "other". They've just drilled so far down into the recursion that at this stage anyone not looking directly into the mirror and smiling is being questioned.

The painful fact remains that these are not people who gained position by cunning, skill, or even hard work. At least not the majority of them.

These are the leftovers, the people who couldn't dominate in the private sector. Or they are people who are assigned their roles and responsibilities at birth due to birth order.

It wouldn't shock me to learn half of them literally have no idea beyond who they report to. They don't need that information, and they're not the types of people who seek to become people who do. Similar to "Jerry Smith" from Rick & Morty, they just keep groveling and it keeps working.
