If you don't think that the virulent and open racism that’s always been prevalent in this country is present and continuing today, then you are either not paying attention or are unwilling spend any time thinking critically about things that happen all around you.

Think if you want that it’s limited to Florida and that DeSantis has no national appeal, but it’s not just going on in Florida. It’s part of the Republican plan.

Ron DeSantis is pushing education in Florida much further right

Under the guise of protecting parents or academic freedom, DeSantis is reshaping education in his state.

@TonyStark People who keep dismissing Ron DeSantis as not much to worry about are making a big mistake.

I agree. #desantis is a dangerous fascist. Let's not forget how many in 2015 thought that Donald Trump running for president was a laughing matter. He was elected, he did enormous damage and he nearly overthrew our #democracy. But he delivered for his donors: a budget-busting tax cut for billionaires and a #christofascist #scotus for religious fanatics. #desantis promises more of the same. He is a threat to be taken seriously.
@Annaeus @Sunspot @TonyStark It was easy to dismiss Trump as just a clown, a carnival barker. DeSantis poses a more immediate and dire threat, especially in light of Trump and the exposure of 40% of the country being fashy-adjacent/tolerant/curious.

@Sunspot @ragle @Annaeus Someone usually rolls up and tells people not to worry about DeSantis, something like what was said above, that he lacks “national appeal.” I’ve seen that in the press, too.

As we’ve seen and see on the GOP radar, they don’t need or want a candidate with national appeal. The system they support doesn’t require it.

Gerrymandering, voter suppression, voter replacement, and the electoral college see to that.

@TonyStark @Sunspot @Annaeus Maybe the one silver lining to the Trump years was proving that "Don't Be a Sucker" was prescient and remains timely.

@Annaeus @ragle @Sunspot Holy sh*t. That’s a great find.
@TonyStark @Annaeus @Sunspot Listening to the dude's speech on the town square was pretty eerily dead-on to the current GOP platform across state and Federal.
