Instead of: no one wants to work anymore. Try: no one wants to be exploited anymore.
Exactly professor @rbreich , we are living in a modern slavery society….
@rodgarciacor
I am just a casual observer but it seems societies reach a tipping point when there is a massive difference between the haves and the havenots. To point, the Russian and French revolutions.
@rbreich I doubt anyone wanted to be exploited before either, but maybe we’re realizing it’s not worth it.
@kshanti @rbreich pandemic taught a lot of people that there’s more to life than being a slave to corporations.
@richservo @rbreich and money, period.
@kshanti @rbreich for sure. I raised my pay rate by 9% this year to cover insane inflation “gouging”
@richservo @rbreich nice! I have only gotten 2% since early ‘21. I’ll be asking for more before signing my next contract.
@rbreich
instead of: record inflation.
Try: corporate greed and unashamed price gouging.

@rbreich
PreCovid one was expected to come to work unless one felt one was on deaths door step and needed to go to the hospital.

Now if one feels a little off STAY HOME ! Do not come to work!

@rbreich The corporate mentality has overtaken the capitalist mentality, no longer do people rise and lift others with them, they rise by pushing others down.
@rbreich
Great to see you here! I enjoy your comments! Happy New Year!🥳💕🥳💕
@rbreich Home Depot guy has managed to play right into the stereotype of the, reality disconnected, wealthy industriallist.
@rbreich no employers want to pay a decent wage anymore.
@rbreich you should also remind them that 1,000,000+ people died due to COVID-19 and thus left the workforce permanently.

@rbreich exactly! When there’s something I want but not at the current price, I don’t say “Nobody wants to make flat screen TVs anymore!”

Heck, diabetics have been hammered by high prices from large corporations for a product they can’t live without, just so rich people can get richer, and I have yet to hear “Nobody wants to make insulin anymore”.

@rbreich thanks, I'll give that a try for a while.
@rbreich yes, but who is doing the exploiting? The one who pays you for your work, or the one who takes half of your earnings by force in order to give it to those who won’t work (after taking their own generous cut of course), and tells you this is “for charity”?
@ligma @rbreich the ones who won’t work are the stockholders.
@rbreich I've been going with "No one wants to hire anymore." You call all these places where they claim no one will work, ask for a job, they'll quickly find a reason not to hire you, or to offer you some under-the-table side-gig because they really don't want actual employees.
@rbreich
They pretend to pay us, we pretend to work.
Old Russian Proverb
@rbreich People need to understand their impact and feel they matter. Pay is indeed part of it, but not all of it.
@rbreich From my readings on the subject, Karl Marx, wanted to use the signifier, "Wage Slaves" in his writing's. But Engles wanted to gain a wide readership so the word, "Exploitation" won the day. Now in the Ununited States & ToryBrexitfluentFascist's, La La Land. 'Day light & Night Time Robbery's the 'New Disorders' of 'Day & Night's.
@rbreich
Plus, they don’t want to figuratively be lashed with a cat-o-nine tails in the cotton fields.
@rbreich ...do you think perhaps unfettered capitalism may not be such a good idea?
