I consider selling all my #StarCitizen ships and buy a nice server for that money instead.
@selea Imagine having bought #StarCitizen ships to begin with
@finlaydag33k @selea
#StarCitizen
I did back in 2012/13 🙂
@PhilRudland Poor soul D: @selea

@finlaydag33k @PhilRudland

I bought my first in 2013 :P
Then got some as a gift a few years back.

Played a shitton in 2017-2019, then I gave my PC to my son

@selea @finlaydag33k
#StarCitizen is becoming a really impressive game now. The latest patch brings huge changes and lays the foundation for even bigger changes over this year and next.

@PhilRudland I'm surprised people even bother with it still...
- It's behind on schedule by over 8 years.
- Went 27x times over budget.
- Still not even nowhere near finished.

I get it that you may enjoy the game but honestly, the game should have long be dead...

@selea

@finlaydag33k When you say 27x over budget, you seem to not understand the concept of crowd funding...

@cintara Instead of saying "wrong, you don't understand it", at least back your argument (no pun intended)...

What according to you is "the concept of crowd funding"?

@finlaydag33k Just think the through steps! Crowd funding is when you state a plan and a cost that you expect will be required to complete it. Then people pledge. You have no control over how much they pledge, so you have no control over how much you get funded. When Star Citizen started they got more than 10x the amount they requested for the original plan. What should Chris Roberts have done? Completed the original promise and run off with the rest? That would really be a Scam!

@cintara Chris should have completed the original promise, the stretch goals the "over-pledging" has unlocked and then with the rest of the money, continue development for new features that weren't in the original goal.
E:D did this just fine, so that argument isn't valid.

Then there is the fact the original promises haven't even been delivered, yet he continues raking in money left right and center.
He got *way* more than originally requested but didn't even deliver the original promises?

1/2

@cintara I re-did my calculations btw, it wasn't 27x but 1095x over budget.

Yes, he got 1095x the amount originally requested, is 8 years behind schedule and still hasn't delivered more than what is a glorified tech-demo.

I'm sorry, but if you get that amount of money but couldn't deliver the promised basics in due time?

2/2

@finlaydag33k Reiterating how much more money he got does nothing except increase your indignation. Why keep doing it? The fact is that he got so much more from the original Kickstarter that the original plan was no longer viable. I have suggested that they should set aside 14 devs (out of currently 850) for two years to make a "mini-SC" according to the original plan, just to shut up the whiners, but no one thought it was a good idea. Next to what we already have, it would be worthless.

@cintara
- Undertale: Got 10x the money they required, delivered as promised and expanded.
- DOS: Got 2x the money they required, delivered as promised and expanded.
- DOS2: Got 4x time money (actually about the same amounts as SC) they required, delivered as promised and expanded.
- SC: Got 4x the money they required, didn't deliver as promised.

FYI: SC literally had "stretch goals"... So they had it in their "original plan"...
Your argument is literally invalid...

@cintara To add to the invalidity of your argument: E:D also got a lot more money than they required (not 4x the amount but still a decent bit more)...
Delivered as promised and expanded.

How come all these games get more money than they required, delivered according to their "original plan" and expanded...
Yet SC couldn't even deliver their "original plan"...

@finlaydag33k I have explained twice and I am not getting through to you, so I will try a different tack: What are you looking for? What do you want to happen? What do you want CIG to do?

@cintara "I am not getting through to you"
Probably because your arguments are invalid?

What do I want CIG to do?
Either deliver the game they promised to so many people or shutdown and stop scamming?

@finlaydag33k "So many people": Kickstarters: 34k people. Current paying backers: 1.4 million. "shutdown and stop scamming": You don't want to let those 1.4 million have fun just because you aren't having fun? Really? That is what you want? You know what that makes you?

@cintara
>Promises something.
>34K people back.
>Never delivers promises.
>New morons come in.
>SC: "The stuff we promised to those 34K doesn't matter anymore because we don't want to let down our current 1.4M citizenbase!"

Scammers love people like you

@finlaydag33k Wow! You really are that person then! When I call you out on it, your response is to call the 1.4M backers "morons". You are a shame on humanity! I have no more empathy for you.

@cintara Yes, indeed, I am that person that is able to have rational thought instead of bending over to some scam corp and snorting massive amounts of copium :^)

If anything, people like you are a shame on humanity for allowing scam corps to exist the way they do :^)

@finlaydag33k You have no regard for anyone else but yourself and your own needs, regardless of how many others suffer. I have no more time for you. Your voice can call alone into the void.

@cintara "but yourself and your own needs, regardless of how many others suffer"
Oh, the irony in that one.

Tell me, how does *stopping more people from falling into the scam* not count as "having regards for anyone else"...
It's literally *to their own benefit*.

Also, tell me, in which way do I only care "about myself and my own needs"?
What exact "needs" do I have according to you?

@finlaydag33k I will give you this last one because you sound sincere, but unless you show that you understand what you are saying, that is it. You want CIG to shutdown? There are 1.4M happy backers, yet you want to deprive them all of their evening pleasure? Why the hell would you ever want that? That is monstrous! Your wish is for me and the other 1.4M players to not get to play a game we love anymore, just to satisfy something really twisted inside you? And you call us "morons"?

@cintara How about you read back to the moment I said "either deliver the game they promised to so many people or (...)" :^)
They could just... ya know? actually deliver as promised (albeit 8 years late but ok)?

What is there "monstrous" about not wanting another (potentially) 1.4M people to fall for the scam?
If anything, me calling SC out on it is a *great* thing?
Do you want 1.4M more to get scammed out of their money? Just so you can play your glorified tech demo?
Now *that* is monstrous...

@finlaydag33k OK, so now you are just insulting me by saying that I love playing a tech demo? Yes, you are asking for the shutdown of a game that 1.4M people love. They have a 30-day money back guarantee even! You think a scam works that way? You have no ability to see that others can enjoy something that you don't. And you response is: Give me what I want! If I can't have what I want, then shut it down so no one else can have what they want.
@cintara My argument is literally: "Give the people what you promised" not "give me what I want"?
Might wanna stop snorting so much copium, it's leaving its marks.
@finlaydag33k OK. Now we are done. I gave you a second chance.
