Yesterday in Utah, Senator Escamilla called Republicans bluff by making them vote on banning teenage breast implants in an anti-trans healthcare ban.
All Republicans voted against it.

Senator Kennedy struggled to find a reason that cis teens should be allowed breast implants while trans youth should be banned from gender affirming care.
He settled on "we've done implants for a while"
It's so transparent that Republicans only care about targeting trans kids and are in favor of solidifying the gender binary. The bill also explicitly legalizes intersex surgeries on intersex kids.
It's entirely about targeting trans youth, and nothing else.
@sasha_strange @ErinInTheMorn Also relevant here is that Utah has a huge breast implant industry, the largest in the country.
Gosh, you'd think they would be completely overlooking how this directly cuts out a large swath of that customer base anyway.
@ErinInTheMorn Sadly, the anti-trans thing isn’t about trans people at all. It’s just another distraction because Republicans have no solutions, as well as it being a symbolic issue of power.
I’ve engaged with many anti-trans people online and once you get passed their poisoned rhetoric they all said they have nothing against people transitioning. They think women sports and bathrooms are being swamped with men and assume it MUST be widespread or they wouldn’t hear about it so much.
