Started Dien Bien Phu learning game last night. So far it feels extremely procedual but not in a negative way. Each side plays a completely different game (Viet Minh need to decide when and where to push and rest troops vs. French manage supply, choose the timing of counterattack and how to slow VM down) and the decisions to make are very interesting.
@burnfire @Poilu A great description of a fantastic game! The mechanics are exquisite.
@burnfire this is my winter project to tackle. Solo or with someone?
@gpage I play this learning game solo. Will play with an opponent at GameOn! con next month :)
@burnfire ahh. I have a willing partner but I'll have to stumble through the procedure learning on my own I think. That's not bad, just need a source to confirm things later. Anything stick out as "oooh, I wished I'd known that going in" that you've found so far?
@gpage not much yet (still on game turn 4 haha) my recommendation is setting up the campaign game (scenario 1) and just follow the process step-by-step. You will realize you made mistake, then just rewind turn 1 :) It is very procedural that it helps new players onboard easily.
