Fun fact: I did an exchange in rural Quebec for 3 months when I was in grade 11. That was about a million years ago. I used to be fluent in French but now not so much. 🤷‍♀️

The town I was in had a nickname « le trou » which means “the hole” in French. 😆 The town? Saint-Calixte.

@StacieBee seems like a nice place (doesn’t every kid think their hometown is a hole at some point? Lol).

I did a private exchange once over an August in Grade 8/9 to a family that lived just outside Paris. I don’t think I was ever fluent in French but that was probably about as close as I ever got. :)

@chrisale

Oh, I bet that was a great experience! I’ve never been to France.

My exchange was sponsored by the Alberta and Québec governments. Céline stayed with us for 3 months in the fall after school started then I stayed with her the following year from February to May.

@StacieBee oh you should go to France! You’ll be surprised by your French speaking abilities resurfacing after a few days :)

I wish we had more exchanges like that in Canada. Such a great experience. My Grade 6 French Immersion class did a very short (1 week?) exchange with a class in Mascouche, QC. Just outside Montreal. It was cool. But short, really just a mini-vacation :)
