The Prime Minister is again telling MP’s his anti strike bill simply joins countries like France, Italy & Spain. It’s complete boll**** - he wants UK workers sacked if they refuse to comply with minimum service levels during industrial action - that is NOT the case in France, Italy and Spain

Prime Minister again says his anti-strike bill is similar to France, Spain & Italy - NO it’s not

@PeterStefanovic #Tories sudden "love" for EU countries and their laws and customs is insulting. They were peddling similar nonsense trying to justify mandatory PhotoIDs for voters at the polling stations "just like they do it in Europe". Pathetic hypocrites. #GTTO #Labour #UKPolitics

@PeterStefanovic
Very true Peter.

Tommorow the 19th of January France will be on strike.

A general strike contesting the governments attempt to raise the retirement age to 64.

Private sector don't need to give any notice of strike
Public sector must give 5 days notice.
NO EMPLOYEE legally on strike can be sanctioned or sacked.

Here is an explanantion of workers rights to strike here in France. (obviously in French but DeepL translate is very good).

@PeterStefanovic Pretty sure you can say bollocks here on mastodon Peter. Especially when it's factually correct. Besides it's one of your favourite words. Great to see you here. 🐘
@PeterStefanovic @colonelirrelevant I expect the BBC will be highlighting this. Won’t they?
@PeterStefanovic more lies from Sunak 😡

@NotsoproudBrit @PeterStefanovic

If Tories truly believed that their policies & actions were what is best for the country they wouldn't need to lie all the time. They could ALWAYS tell the truth & people would back them.

The fact that they choose to lie about almost EVERYTHING demonstrates they KNOW they are wrong, that they are corrupt, & that they are simply using the apparatus of govt to further their own aims, for their own pesonal benefit, & NOT the good of the country as a whole.

@PeterStefanovic more importantly, the government only recently removed their legal obligation to provide a comprehensive national health service. Now they are empowered to do it but not obliged to do it.
That obligation should be brought back immediately.
@PeterStefanovic I’m in favour of the new bill only applying to MPs. If they don’t provide minimum service levels, they should be sacked and replaced by MPs who will.
