My family is thinking of celebrating the #ChineseNewYear (this Sunday) in a small way with a Chinese meal and a movie. And maybe read something about #Chinese New Year traditions, etc.

We are not Chinese and we don't speak Chinese or have any direct connections to China, but we like Chinese movies and shows (and I love the history of #China and am trying to learn the language—I'm so bad 😂). And we looooove Chinese food. So, we thought, "why not?"

Any recommendations for #dishes and #movies?

@tuckerteague no recommendation for dishes but if you want to try to make some recipes, I highly recommend the Woks of Life website - brimming with good stuff.
@lacouvee that site looks amazing. thanks!
@tuckerteague look up "velveting" of meat and your cooking will never be the same. That one tip alone.
@tuckerteague “Once Upon a Time in China” is tremendous fun. “Hero” is absolutely gorgeous. Both of them are period action films (if that’s up your alley).
@tuckerteague when I applied for the Marines there was no Latino category for race so I checked off Caucasian and the recruiter said yup I can choose whichever I most identify with lol. I might start celebrating Colombus Day or something.
