A quick in between project - I needed something small and mindless for two knit nights in a row (on online, one in-person).

So I grabbed some Wollmeise Twin I had leftover from a scarf weaving project and made matching fingerless gloves with an interesting thumb construction - they are called Pioneer Gloves on ravelry. https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/pioneer-gloves

Pioneer Gloves pattern by Kelly McClure

Gather some berries, shuck some corn and churn some butter - pioneers need to protect their hands! Get back to basics with these simple fingerless gloves.

@FanCityKnits ml Thanks so much for posting this pattern. I’d just decided last night to make myself some fingerless gloves!

@DenHal

I did 20 rounds before starting with the thumb and did 20 rounds after putting the thumb sts away. So it's not quite the long size, but for me it's the perfect length.

@FanCityKnits Thanks for the tip! I’ll need to do something similar as the short version looks too short & the long version too long. 🤔
@FanCityKnits @knitting Thank you for the pattern. I love the way it curves across into the thumb. It’s perfect a wave! I can’t wait to try it!
@FanCityKnits That is definitely some interesting thumb construction there.
@FanCityKnits
Nice pattern. And I LOVE the colour of your yarn! Do you remember what Wollmeise called it? Their colour names are a little odd sometimes.
@Giagia it's "Odin's war" - a special edition color way from the 2019 advent calendar or so. I found it when I visited their store in I think 2021.
@FanCityKnits Goodness, that's a very out there colour name. Special edition makes a lot of sense, I had looked at their website but couldn't find anything like it.
This colour reminds me a bit of the Cereza colourway by Malabrigo, but I like yours better!
Thanks so much!

@Giagia

It's still available as Lace yarn - https://www.rohrspatzundwollmeise.de/lacegarn-100-wolle-odin-war-s/a-1235382

And now I'm thinking about getting a skein of that, because I really, really love it, too. I have a winter coat in burgundy tweed wool, and it's just the same colors.

@FanCityKnits
This is sooo tempting! I love lace knitting.

@Giagia

I just realized I had the name of the colorway wrong the whole time 😆

It's not called Odin's war but "Odin war's" - that's German (with a slight Bavarian undertone) for "Odin did it (that thing we just talked about)" - probably in a slightly accusing tone.

@FanCityKnits
Ach nee, sowas! Lustig.
I didn't notice that although I saw the s at the end of war in the URL. I was very tempted to buy it, but I still have a massive stash, maybe once I use up some other lace yarns I still have.
Very, very tempted though...
And the colourway to the left of the Odin skeins in that group photo, that's gorgeous too. Might have bought that but didn't find it. Good thing.
Pure: 100% Wolle: Beerentöne Advent 2019 | Rohrspatz und Wollmeise

@FanCityKnits Utterly gorgeous! All the shades on both links... If only I won the lottery, I'd be able to afford the massive house I would need to store all of the gorgeous yarn I would buy.
On the other hand yarn doesn't improve from lying around. And as I'm still fighting a moth problem, it's a good thing to not add to my stash. I have everything in ziplock bags and the problem is already lots better, but mustn't tempt fate too much.
But these are so lovely!
