Its always lovely to see the Bank Vole that lives beneath this woodpile. (He's really shy, but today he fell for the old peanut entrapment trick).

I have include a crop, because he really is a beautiful little vole)

Fantastic shot! Will have to try the peanut trick myself.
@iplaw67 It also helped that I knew he lived in this woodpile, as I have seen him there a few times this year.
@JimsPhotos such a lovely photo and vole, thank you for sharing!
@Funktious my pleasure Sian. It's not everyday you see a vole and they a fab little creatures.
@JimsPhotos they’re such a pretty color
@JimsPhotos
Oh, he's precious! And a really clear photo. Thanks for sharing!
@JimsPhotos how do we tell between a Vole and a mouse please? Kitties brought one of these in I think but I thought it was a wood mouse...

We discovered the squeak of our dogs' toy, accidently activated at night from inside a tent, will also generate a vole's interest when the vole reply squeaked. Cue a very brief silence when all involved assessed the situation, followed by two terriers (unsuccessfully) trying to leave said tent through sheer velocity and some epic chaos.

@PurpleyWitch nice photo. Your dogs name isn't Laika is it? (Looks like he's in a spacecraft)

Oh, and I've never heard a voles squeek, so that cool that a vole reacted the way it did.

@JimsPhotos

He's a Jake. Also in my profile pic as a SatNav. He's the family foreman.

Reuse of a washing machine door so they can see the Postie, or his knees at least.

Any squeaky dog toy is about right. I've been gardening here (SW Scot.) when a vole popped up. I remained still and quiet, and the vole carried on before realising I was there and squeaking as it shot for cover.

@JimsPhotos I see you threw in a few already peeled sunflower seeds as extra enticement πŸ˜€
@faustosterling yep. I alway carry a mix of nuts and seed when I'm out
@JimsPhotos That’s a lovely picture. Next time you stop by the woodpile, say hi from me to the little fella! Maybe give a sunflower seed or two! Thanks for sharing πŸ™πŸ½πŸ™πŸ½πŸ™πŸ½
@plants will do if and when I see him/her again...
@JimsPhotos Behold, the mighty Vole!
