2,996 civilians died in the 9/11 attacks in 2001 and within weeks Germany announced they would deploy troops in the war on terror.

6,952 civilians have been killed in Ukraine. Others have been raped, tortured, or abducted.

And German chancellor Olaf Scholz is still holding back, as if Vladimir Putin is less of a terrorist than Osama bin Laden.

Why is that?

@randahl Russia did not invade pr attack a NATO nation... and also has nukes.
@SaftyKuma are you saying, Germany would not have fully supported the war on terror if al-Qaeda had nuclear weapons?
@SaftyKuma @randahl the nuke thing feels like an excuse; Germany is the only country that's really worried about them in relation to weapon transfers. I would also like to see the game theoretical analysis where those nukes ever become relevant. In any analysis I've seen, the logic that leads to Russian appeasement, could just as well lead to us having to buy 1 trillion dollars worth of matrushka dolls from Russia because they might nuke us if we don't 🤷
@randahl Nice that all other are acting now like after 9/11.
@khroesing they increasingly are. However, I cannot seem to find the German flag in this graphic.
@randahl Can't see something about deployed troops.
@khroesing now divide that by population count.
@randahl Only absolute figures are what is helping in reality. Everything else is counting peanuts.
@randahl at a guess, the same reason everyone else is. Nuclear bombs.
