On 13 January 1945 the number of prisoners in the Auschwitz III-Monowitz camp was 9,806.

The third part of Auschwitz camp was created in October 1942 on the site of the expelled & destroyed Polish village of Monowice. It was linked to the construction of the synthetic rubber plant of IG Farbenindustrie.
