Medium spinning up its own #Mastodon instance for all of its users seems like kind of a big deal.
I think it's a net win, but it's also annoying because Medium is going to impair it and try to hold onto some portion of their walled garden.

@arossp @rechelon I can certainly see where an (unwelcome!) possibility would be them trying to AOL-ify the FediVerse. (Think, e.g., trying to create 'Me.dm+' content for paid subscribers...)
On the other hand, I only got on Twitter because my favorite blogger (Ta-Nehisi Coates) grew weary of moderating the comments on his blog, and largely stopped posting in favor of tweeting. (And then, got sick of the racist trolls on Twitter...)
