This morning, a friend reminded me of this archive video from the BBC from 1964 of Shetland knitters.

Although I know it's a combination of technique, skill and experience, I still can't wrap my head around how they knit so fast. Also, that spinning is magic.

This comes with the general content advice that it was made in the 1960s and you may end up side-eyeing the presenter at times.

Thanks for posting that! The economy of movement in the knitting is amazing. At first I thought they were continental but the closeups showed nope, english style just fast as hell.That knitting belt was cool as well.
I've been spinning for about twelve years and can't get that fine, that is skill.

@kimkarma66 I also wondered if they were using continental style, and nope. I'm in awe.

I'd love to try spinning with a wheel. I'm working my way through some alpaca with a drop spindle to understand the technique better, and am very bad at it, but it's fun.
