MWT@elizabethbeston It was possibly looser than the bikinis? Or would those have been invented after, by someone who wanted it to be even tighter? The explanation I've heard is it provides more support (for dangly bits).
@mwt I can understand that for people with dangly bits! But for those without? I include the bikini within the brief brief 😆. I wonder if it was the creation of tight trousers that required a tight under garment. And then somehow it became the norm regardless of one’s outerwear.
