You know, nothing's perfect and in any community there are going to be flaws and work needed to improve things, especially in transition periods. That never stops.

Having said that? I f***ing love the fediverse. I'm so glad to be here. I love that I can learn from someone nerding out about gardening, birds, art, medieval history, who knows - it's always a surprise! - and the vast majority of the folks are looking to share their joys rather than tear other people down. You people rock.

@AbandonedAmerica I love it too! So much to learn, so many interesting people! πŸ’—πŸ˜

@AbandonedAmerica

Seconded, with enthusiasm.

I signed up for the bird app years ago when the Bronx Zoo Cobra had an account because it was fun. Faded aaway from it until tfg started getting noisy. Then go drawn into perpetual angst. So glad to have found this. It is like getting to wander with a friendly crowd through a vast library/museum/art gallery.

@dbc3 nice way of putting it πŸ₯°
@AbandonedAmerica Same! It's so much calmer
@jordanlhawk it hits me in different ways at different times how much I appreciate that
@AbandonedAmerica Yeah, the fediverse is sort of the PBS of the internet. very USA reference, sorry.
@AbandonedAmerica Love your posts including your thread about dread, and the heartfelt comments and replies. You do fantastic work! Keep doing what you do.
@AbandonedAmerica It’s lovely that you’re here! Thanks to you I’m now thinking about abandoned gardens as a special category of dereliction.
@kate I never really thought about it much before either tbh. Seems like a big oversight on my part. And thank you!
@AbandonedAmerica We love you back, buddy. Warm, kind, inquisitive, authentic. Glad to see you in a better place . . . but don't let the pressure you. The struggle you're in will be in waves. We got you.
@JulieB thanks Julie. You're a mensch πŸ₯°
@AbandonedAmerica Oh buddy, now you've gone and made me cry! Very kind. ❀️
@AbandonedAmerica Agree, I’m on marginally on the bird site to vent; i come Mastodon to learn and enjoy

@AbandonedAmerica I feel the same!! I've not been back to the birdsite since I joined #Mastodon. After a few weeks of being here I realized how toxic being on that other site was to me. Too much fear, hatred, anger.

Being here is a breath of fresh air. I'm able to learn new things, discover things I didn't know, & interact with people who have the same interests as me. And folks allow you to be who you are - not make you ashamed of it. It's totally changed my life for the better!

@drlisanelson yeah, it's helping me untangle some things too. Which is good but sometimes difficult.

@AbandonedAmerica ...and, for what it's worth, being here just garnered you a book sale.

(Been meaning to do it since I first saw your work on here!)

@jeff thanks Jeff! I hope you enjoy it!
@AbandonedAmerica same here. This is so much better than the doomscrooling I was doing.
