interviewer: give me an example of a time when you took control of a situation

me: no, YOU give ME an example

interviewer: lol okay, that was pretty impressive

me: Iโ€™m afraid weโ€™re going to have to let you go

interviewer: *being led away by security* what is happening right now

@rebrafsim This made me properly chuckle (and then I read it out loud to my husband). Thanks for the laughs.
@rebrafsim Interviewer: "Do you have any questions for me?"
Me: "Yes, tell me about yourself."
Interviewer: "..."

@wyndsmir @rebrafsim I read this as:

Interviewer: Do you have any questions for me?
Me: Yes. Tell me why you feel you are fit for this position and how you can contribute to the company.
Interviewer:

@rebrafsim real life of example from a coworker conducting and interview:

Interviewer: now we are gonna roleplay, so you can demonstrate how to turn a negative scenario into a postive experience.

Candidate: oh ok

Interviewer: ok so hi, i would like to buy this but i have a few questions first, do you price match competitors?

Candidate: im sorry but your card declined you'll have to come back later

Interviewer: ...

@rebrafsim @janschiefer a few years ago, this reminds me of my interviewing with a few big companies. Iโ€™d been called in for X and then was being asked about Y job characteristics. I kind of โ€œasked to discuss this situationโ€ with the manager, did so, pointing out the lack of interviewing acumen and cluster fuck it actually was. Stated I wasnโ€™t interested as this is a horrific indicator as a first impression.

@rebrafsim @janschiefer I did so however in a polite, professional, and reasonable way. So then a few days later I get a ping, โ€œwould you be interested in consulting to help us sort out our hiring pipeline?โ€

To which I did for a solid chunk of $$ for a few days of working it through.

So I stopped interviewing for an extra few weeks since I then had some extra vacay money! ๐Ÿค˜๐Ÿป

Figured I deserved it since Iโ€™d done a good deed! ๐Ÿคฃ

xkcd#1094?
@benjaminhollon @rebrafsim XKCD goes "Night Gallery"!! (anyone remember the 70s?)
@titia @rebrafsim I wasnโ€™t alive. :)
@benjaminhollon @rebrafsim Well, here's the Wikipedia entry, in case you're interested: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Night_Gallery
I watched this series when I was somewhere under ten years old, and some episodes left lasting memories! There was often an ironic turn or a sort of moral lesson in the stories.

@titia @benjaminhollon @rebrafsim If you can remember the 70s, you did the 70s wrong.
@monospace @benjaminhollon @rebrafsim Not if you were born in the late 60s. ๐Ÿ˜

@rebrafsim nice one! ๐Ÿ˜„
On a serious note though, I find when I get these "give me an example of a time, " questions, it's tough only because rarely are they notable situations. I don't remember.

Think what I'll do from now on is tell them the truth: I've done it so many times its difficult to remember a specific one, but here's HOW I do it...

@rebrafsim Let the record also show that the defendant then proceeded to "scent mark" various areas of the office, loudly proclaiming "This is mine now" and making intense eye-contact with employees.
@rebrafsim I feel like I've done that before
@zakarya youโ€™d probably rememberโ€ฆ ๐Ÿ˜‚
@rebrafsim this post screams tumblr energy
@gray thatโ€™s . . . good, right? ๐Ÿ˜‚ Thanks!
@rebrafsim Should've been specific but yes it's a very good thing! Chaotic and spontaneous lmao

@rebrafsim "What do you see yourself doing in five years?"

"Sitting behind that desk firing you."
