Next time you read 'obesity causes x' try to read 'chronic stress causes x' and see if it'll still make sense.

My guess is that it will make more sense. A body shape doesn't cause a lot of issues, but chronic stress might. Keep in mind that in the current culture, everybody with an obese body type is subjected to stigma and prejedice, from strangers, family members, (potential) employers, landlords, doctors, etc. Often also from themselves as well.

Getting rejected, without knowing why? Must be my weight.
That stranger in the gym telling me I need to come more often.
That boy on the dating site who was super enthousiastic about our first date, until he showed a picture of me to his friends, and canceled the date because he 'didn't see himself sate a fat person'.
That doctor not taking me serious. Would my weight be a factor?
That other doctor bluntly refusing to operate on me, until I lose 20 extra kg (despite him just reading out loud from my file that I lost 50kg in a year). Never mind I'm literally screaming from pain from the issue I want surgery for.
Assuming that some people in my life don't believe I have no energy because of ME/CFS, they blame it on obesity instead.
My father actually saying that to my face.
The doctor selling weight loss surgery to me with: you'll be less bothered by ME/CFS if you weight less.
The stranger on the street, approaching me to talk about my eating habits.

@skippingmoonrocks I feel you so much, fatphobia is something that haunts you every single day. Ugh.

Hugs

@skippingmoonrocks It really sucks. I have several friends who have also not received adequate treatment as a result of their doctors focusing on their size rather than on the actual problems. It's dreadful. I hope that even though some members of your family are problematic you have some supportive people around.

@skippingmoonrocks a really uncomfortable example for me recently is my stomach issues being dismissed because I'm not rapidly losing weight..

And I'm like, yeah because I'm spending years practicing to manage my food and stuff and triggers, so I can eat and not lose too much weight, oh and you know I can't actually go for a walk or spend many extra calories / day that would otherwise also make me lose weight (whether I want to or not).
