KeyaI just witnessed a hit and run of a #pedestrian at 12th and H st NE in #dc. The guy was crossing at a crosswalk and was hit so hard the #car bumper and side mirror flew off. He blacked out but is otherwise okay. After 30 begging MPD finally agreed to take our statements. They were going to do nothing at all. The driver came back after a while and they didn’t even write a ticket. This happens all the time and there is no record bc MPD isn’t even required to report it to DDOT. #TrafficViolence

@RQLewisRVA As far as I have been briefed violent crime is down in DC. Doesn’t make it any easier for those who experience the trauma of it, and I’m sorry if you have experienced that. My point is that dangerous driving is out of control here and in the US broadly and the streets need to be fixed to deter drivers from mowing down human beings. The extent to which this is happening is not even being fully documented and is still alarming.
