I consider selling all my #StarCitizen ships and buy a nice server for that money instead.
@selea Imagine having bought #StarCitizen ships to begin with
@finlaydag33k @selea
#StarCitizen
I did back in 2012/13 πŸ™‚
@PhilRudland Poor soul D: @selea

@finlaydag33k @PhilRudland

I bought my first in 2013 :P
Then got some as a gift a few years back.

Played a shitton in 2017-2019, then I gave my PC to my son

@selea @finlaydag33k
#StarCitizen is becoming a really impressive game now. The latest patch brings huge changes and lays the foundation for even bigger changes over this year and next.

@PhilRudland I'm surprised people even bother with it still...
- It's behind on schedule by over 8 years.
- Went 27x times over budget.
- Still not even nowhere near finished.

I get it that you may enjoy the game but honestly, the game should have long be dead...

@selea

@finlaydag33k

You dont have to play it ;)

@PhilRudland

@selea No fortunately not, I'd rather spend my money on games that aren't obvious scams :p

@PhilRudland

@finlaydag33k

Scams is supposed to not deliver anything, but there is a great product called star citizen that is enjoyable :)

You can try it on the free weekends, so you can se the progress.

@PhilRudland

@selea A scam isn't exactly just "not delivering anything".
A scam can also constitute not delivering as promised... Which sounds oddly like Star Citizen ;)

I have a friend that has SC and he's still waiting for his *original purchases 8 years after they were promised*...
How is that not a scam?

@PhilRudland

@finlaydag33k @selea
#StarCitizen
If he bought a ship that has not yet been delivered, that does not make it a scam. There are reasons given why some ships are not in game as yet. A lot of those reasons are now being answered by PES.
Still no facts...keep trying.

@PhilRudland "some ships" (and features cus those are also plenty missing)...

My dude, those things were *literally the first things that should have been added*.
You're literally coping instead of admitting you are supporting a scam

@selea

@finlaydag33k @selea
#StarCitzen
Ahh so you believe a capital ship with 100 crew should be ingame when servers only support 50 people???
rofl

@PhilRudland
> When servers only support 50 people.

Thank you for literally proving me correct.
That game, should have been *properly supporting thousands of players 8 years ago*.

Cope harder my dude.

Sorry to jump in your discussion.

Even though I can see your point of view, they promised something and haven't delivered it (yet), I wouldn't call it a scam (yet).

If you spend money on something, and you're still waiting for it, you were not scammed.

IF there comes a point when they say "tough luck you're not getting what you paid for", THEN it becomes a scam.

If you're happy playing (and paying), that's all that matters.

Enjoy yourselves.

@rauldevezas I disagree with that viewpoint for the simple fact of how abstract it is.
Say, you bought something (and paid) and I deliver to promise it by summer of 2023.
I don't deliver it but instead say: "No, I'm upgrading it, just wait until 2025!"
Then, in 2025, I say: "I had some issues, just wait until 2028."
In 2028, I say: "I'm still working on it just wait until 2035".
With your definition, I'm allowed to push it basically indefinitely but it never becomes a scam.

Couple of nibbles here, correct me if I'm wrong (and I might be):
- I believe this started as a crowd funding for the game. The game that exists and you can play it.
- This ship things you guys are talking, when selling did they announce that the ship would be ready at X date?
- Are you (not you specifically) happy with the product you're getting?

The answers to this, for me, define if you're getting scammed or not. Common sense takes over.

@rauldevezas
- Yesn't. The game exists but most of the promised things aren't there yet.
- Yes, they announced it that the game would be finished in 2014 for a funding of 2m total, not a glorified alpha in 2023 with over 500m in funding (which also violates Kickstarter's rules - though this violation only became clear after the campaign).
- I have luckily not paid a red cent for it, though my friend (who has) definitely isn't (guy has a stroke each time you mention SC).

@PhilRudland @selea

@rauldevezas I do want to point to a different game called "Elite Dangerous".
This game started dev shortly after SC (with a Kickstarter shortly before SC) and has been finished (2014) with its first DLC (2021).
A lot of the core features that SC also promised are there.

So basically ED is what SC originally promised but ED stuck to their promise and delivered, in time (albeit the DLC had its issues during release but those are fixed).

and ofc, there's No Man's Sky...
