I'll just say it: I was a heavy #Twitter user, but Elon is a horrible rightwing buffoon so I've been migrating to both #Mastodon and #Post. Thus far, while there are lots of interesting people on Post, posting there feels like dropping links into a dry well. I get very little engagement, even when I use hashtags. I'm not even sure how to gauge engagement there. Mastodon feels more like a community. I know they're both evolving, but for those who are trying both, what are your feelings thus far?
@stevesilberman Mastodon because it is different. It's not just another venture-backed data grab. It is the community deciding what it wants. There are and will be hiccups, but I think we're all the better for working through them.

@bsletten @stevesilberman I opened an account on Post.News & it does have potential. Although with all of that venture capital I am surprised they have not launched corresponding #iPhone / #iPad / #Android apps.

Post News currently is a glorified link aggregator.

I think what separates #Mastodon from #Twitter is their emotional community engagement of choice: Mastodon seeks positive community engagement while Twitter seeks negative community engagement.

This might be a hot take but #Twitter doesn’t inheritly seek negative community engagement by design, its community does
