DAGs, Golems, and Owls: Statistical Rethinking 2023 Lecture 1 (of 20). No hard work in this introductory lecture, just a conceptual outline and some dank memes. Lecture 2 later this week introduces Bayesian inference. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FdnMWdICdRs&list=PLDcUM9US4XdPz-KxHM4XHt7uUVGWWVSus&index=1

@rlmcelreath

Will problem sets go up here as well? I was hoping to see if I could follow along despite not enrolling for classes (I'm in Australia and resolved to prioritise sleep over Zoom for 2023)

@rlmcelreath what a way to start the new year :)
@rlmcelreath — so excited! Many thanks indeed for sharing this
@rlmcelreath I attended this course 2 years ago and it has changed the way I view statistical inference, how I think about doing analyses, as well as how to teach complex mathematical concepts in an understandable way. 10/10, would recommend! Adding some tags so that it may reach more interested people #causalinference #bayes #bayesian #teaching #statistics #stats #r #stan
@rlmcelreath oddly enough I used 2022 as workout videos. Will do the same in 2023!
@rlmcelreath it is amazing how something that it took 2 minutes to mention (“even when the goal is descriptive, need causal model”) was completely ignored in most of the statistics courses (psychology curriculum) I have taken.
