Windows Server 2003 turns 20 this year and will celebrate by continuing to operate in critical national infrastructure and manufacturing facilities for another 20 years

@SecureOwl IMHO #Windows should be banned as the illegal #Govware it is...

But sadly a lot of shit is made and designed by #TechIlliterates...

@SecureOwl not to mention medical facilities
@SecureOwl and cash machines πŸ˜‚
@runningrobderby @SecureOwl meanwhile getting some side-eye from windows ME running windmills

@SecureOwl my first proper IT job, and last Windows one, was an upgrade to server 03 and I still forget that it's not modern.

A few months back I was in a call with a bank trying to work out how to get their 03 machine to talk modern enough TLS to interact with our app...

@SecureOwl as well as my local DNS/DHCP servers 😬
@SecureOwl Old OSes don’t stop working, they just change who they are working for.
@SecureOwl Turned off a sbs 2003 just over a year ago.
@SecureOwl Hell, one of my clients is still running a Windows 2000 server to generate some reports, though I think they at least converted it from physical to virtual.
@SecureOwl what if you would simply not expose it to anything but its core service? Like a motor control unit .. broken by design but not exposed?
@SecureOwl I know a hedge fund that pays Microsoft millions per year to keep supporting excel 2k as their entire financial modeling system is built on it. Guys driving Ferraris and flying around in gulfstreams but their business is run by Clippy
@SecureOwl it was really the first "good" server os from Microsoft. Not perfect but a huge advance
