To start off this new year, I'd like to show you the picture that made me the happiest this past year... after many many attempts, I finally got a decent capture of a flying #Kingfisher. ( I was very happy though on many other occasions as well 😜

Stay safe tonight, enjoy and have a great & healthy 2023, HAPPY NEW YEAR!

@BirdsinLatin

Gorgeous. Thanks for sharing. Happy New Year. 🎉

@BirdsinLatin

What a great photo! of such a beautiful bird!

@BirdsinLatin i should think you would be pleased that is fabulous. Pops off the background to perfect effect.
@BirdsinLatin Wow! Very difficult shot to pull off. Well done!
@BirdsinLatin very nice! I hope to one day SEE a kingfisher, never mind capture an image like this :-)
@ninaparmenter we’re just enjoying a great year for this species... There are so many Kingfishers... It’s almost hard not to spot one when near the water. Your time will come... You just have to wait it out, good luck.
@ninaparmenter @BirdsinLatin I saw my first kingfisher this year. It was on the Water of Leith in Edinburgh. I’m yet to see the otters but I live in hope.
@philmids @ninaparmenter in nature… it’s all about patience… (Which I’m bad at😉) hope you’ll spot them any time soon 👍🏻
@BirdsinLatin Beautiful. I can feel him gaining momentum just from looking at this. Happy New Year!
@BirdsinLatin wow! That's fabulous! Thanks for sharing
@BirdsinLatin That is a truly magnificent shot! Happy New Year to you as well ☺️
@BirdsinLatin Absolutely breathtaking - well done!
@BirdsinLatin beautiful!💙🧡💙
@BirdsinLatin yeah those bastards continue to thwart my attempts as well. Then they perch and laugh at me
@BirdsinLatin
this is a gorgeous photo
you did a very good job!!
@jaymcor
@BirdsinLatin Wow! Spectacular capture! 😍

@BirdsinLatin

How that's beauty in motion.

@BirdsinLatin that is a stunning picture!
@BirdsinLatin Gorgeous picture! Congratulations.
@BirdsinLatin What a wonderful photograph. I am not surprised you were happy with it.
@BirdsinLatin Fantastic shot! Well done. 😊
@BirdsinLatin not sure how this works, but this stunning image doesn’t have your name or a little copyright logo on it. It wouldn’t take much for somebody to do a screen dump and get a canvas print made at a supermarket. And on a different note, I would die if I could get an image anywhere near as good as that.
@Hmmm thanks a lot... I don’t do copyright on my hobby images... The quality of these online images is so poor... Any blow-up will look terrible. And I believe that I would be flattered first if they would steal a picture of me.
Anyway, thank you for reminding me.

@BirdsinLatin

Gorgeous! Looks like a painting.

@BirdsinLatin I’ve seen many a Kingfisher pic and this one is definitely up there with the best. Best flying one I laid eyes on! Thank you for sharing 🥰
@BirdsinLatin beautiful. Congratulations 🎊
@BirdsinLatin super shot. One of my big bucket list items too. So hard juggling the fast shutter speed against their love of dimly lit environments.
@tessa_murray I think ours are more hungry, cause we see ‘m fishing all day long.... And the blue really lights up in full sunlight... They’re fast but easy to spot
@BirdsinLatin Our kingfishers seldom "fish" I more commonly see them with bugs and spiders. Even the ones that hunt along river banks are as likely to catch insects as small fish.
@tessa_murray they do indeed... But normally the feed their young with insects... Maybe they have a nest somewhere?
@BirdsinLatin Is it breeding season for them where you are? I wonder if they're trying to feed one or two hungry chicks?
@Lilysea not for another 2-3 months, at this point it’s mid-Winter.. although winter is not a correct word for the season we’re going through rain rain rain and more rain
