Welp, my dishwasher has decided that it does not wish to see 2023. Or more accurately, it started flashing an error code, and began puking water all over my floor when I tried to run diagnostics, thus I no longer wish to try to repair a 14 year old dishwasher. So friends, who has a #dishwasher they either particularly like or particularly hate?
@wesgeorge I usually check out consumer reports for appliance purchases.

@wesgeorge Long ago, we bought a high end KitchenAid that was simply amazing. Then we moved away.

I now have a Bosch, which gets an A-. The end-of-cycle chime is simply relentless, which can be really annoying if you set it off and then want to go to sleep.

@TonyLi my problem is that the current one, that I have had basically the older and then newer version of the same make and model across 2 houses over the better part of 2 decades and been very happy with is a Kenmore Elite, which no longer exists and I can't seem to find an equivalent model from whomever they contracted to manufacture it, so I'm starting over sort of from scratch.

@wesgeorge Kenmore was manufactured by the same folks that make Whirlpool, KitchenAid, Amana, Jenn-Air, and Maytag.

@wesgeorge just paid way too much for a Bosch but love it. Unlike last time you bought one the limiting factor will be finding something in stock- even now. Good luck.

@wesgeorge we like our Bosch after we switched to a detergent that works well with it; the environmentally-friendly detergent we used initially didn't work well with the Bosch for whatever reason.

One disadvantage of Bosch and Miele -- and a few other manufacturers -- is they filter the water, rather than having a small garbage disposal (which is the "American" style). You gotta clean that filter occasionally, like every month or more frequently if dishes are really dirty when put into the dishwasher.

@TonyLi, the volume is adjustable. I made ours as quiet as possible and can barely hear it. It can also be turned off. https://removeandreplace.com/2018/03/25/how-to-turn-off-beeping-on-bosch-dishwasher-when-cycle-complete/

How To Disable Bosch Dishwasher Alarm? My Bosch dishwasher keeps beeping after cycle. Bosch dishwashers on the market today have an alarm sound that beeps

@danwing @TonyLi my existing dishwasher is similar (filter rather than disposal) so that's not a big deal. Most manufacturers are going that way because it's so much quieter I guess.
