This has been a really weird year with some #TTRPG stuff at the beginning of the year, before leaving twitter, falling away from playing anything or contacting anyone as my mental health absolutely crashed and burned, and then having some last few weeks of excitement at the end of the year, joining here and playing a bunch of games with people again.
Still I managed to pack more than I would have thought:

A wonderful short solo journaling game about a vampire in a bad way trying to make it to safety with a ticking clock if 6 hours til sunrise. A fantastic solo experience using the #CaltropCore system to great effect (https://caltropcore.com/)
Highly recommend, especially if you like creatures of the night.

The last game I got to be a player in. I am absolute ball with my Science Mystic, Superior-Doctor Aster Amara Astra, in this OSR classic with bizarre, eclectic vibes and some of the most inspiring and strange failed careers (playbook) I've come across. I can't wait next session and even more excited to finally find time to crack open Into the Odd (Remastered) in 2023.

Weird, wonderful, wacky (one of the only times this can be applied without it being an insult or incredibly cringe), just fuck my shit up in an original and wild OSR kinda way.
I really need to play and run more of this ridiculousness, but I'll never be able to put words to it that do it justice as Batts did here: The Miracle Mystical Whimsy Machine of Troika!

This is a truly glorious and magical book. I had a wonderful, nostalgic, emotional and silly time with this game. This is such a beautifully presented, thoughtful and inspired concept.
It also helped me get over writing and drawing in-game books, which I am very thankful for
I played this at the beginning of the year and have been enchanted by it since.
Alice is Missing by Spenser Starke (Hunters Entertainment)

After playing it once, all I can say with absolute assurance is that it was the most singular, exhilarating, nerve-wracking & cathartic experience playing a TTRPG I've ever had.
This game is roleplaying euphoria in an anxiety-fuelled, frustrating and heartbreaking narrative and format!

An impressive exercise in design elegance with simplicity being expertly wrought into a fun, flowing & easy to pick up system!
If you want to be a cool, competent character that investigates and slays cool monsters in a wide variety of awesome settings, this honestly might just be the best game to play. It is an absolute Dragon game slayer!
