Failed to install dual boot #linux on #chromebook last night (got stuck in a boot loop after chrx repartitioned the drive to make space for Linux—good thing I did make that recovery USB after all). Fell back to plan B of running #ubuntu in chroot off #ChromeOS using #crouton - I think #xfce is kinda janky tbh (compared to my last distro #LinuxMint which I loved but the stalls when running off a USB killed me), but at least it kinda works (so far).
So #crouton didn’t work after all; yes I could log in, but I couldn’t install kernel modules including the one I really needed, CIFS, to be able to mount a Windows network share. Very frustrating. So I ended up having to just wipe the whole drive (including #ChromeOS) and installed #LinuxMint - that minute after I wiped the drive, installed Mint, and restarted and it was just a black screen (before the Mint logo appeared) was a very long minute! But finally I saw this and phew 😮‍💨
Had to install Mint into a bootable USB, boot from it, then wipe the #chromebook and install #linuxmint https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3X1shseT13c
