@Bulwark a 'bolwerk' in Dutch. Bol = round & werk = work / referring to them round outbuilds on and around castles that make it perfect for defence all around. https://nl.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bolwerk_(bouwwerk)
The word evolved into a verb 'bolwerken' = get it done, make it happen, accomplish.
Fascinating how it got into old English.
