psychology papers drawing conclusion about human behaviour based on a controlled lab experiment of N=29 is the reason why i can't take the whole field seriously
@abebab I worry about the peer reviewers who let it through - I’ve knocked back similar for overblown conclusions…
@abebab typically 29 undergrads. Anthropology has worse problems. We need both of them.
@abebab I once heard someone describe psychology as "the study of US undergrads" and now I can't see it as anything else.

@LauraC_rter @abebab

Sounds like someone didn't study abnormal, physiological psych, etc.

@LauraC_rter @abebab @marklemley that’s unfair! It’s now often also the study of Mechanical Turk workers 😬
@abebab @LauraC_rter Brings to mind the WEIRD science paper.
@abebab There's an awful lot of magical thinking for a field of science

@abebab
I guess they don't know that they don't know... ;-)

It's just https://www.apa.org/monitor/2010/05/weird ;)

@abebab I don’t think that is the norm anymore.
