When you're a civil engineer but you always wanted to be a network engineer.
@StephenTherry @LackadaisiGal That there are 45 windows is surely not a coincidence
@StephenTherry The building in the middle is RJ-45. The one on the far left is RJ-11.
@StephenTherry that's brilliant, did you take pictures of the other elevations, are there any civil engineers that's wanted to be telecommunication engineers? (RJ45 vs RJ11s)
@StephenTherry nevermind I just solved my own question.
@StephenTherry the work of RJ Jack I believe
@StephenTherry "Why build a bridge here? Who will pay for this?" - "I already told you, it's for packets. Can we do auto-negotiation please?" - "Why packets, though? You could just hang a frame on a cable."
@StephenTherry I actually kind of like the balcony design lol...

Attack of the Fifty-Foot Network Server™

@StephenTherry So many ports and not a single label in sight. Typical.
@StephenTherry aliens install RJ-45000 switch on city, nobody notices
@StephenTherry this is the design work of an architect. Don't forget about us. Your joke is kind of a lead zeppelin
@StephenTherry alternate: "Civil Engineer Reeeaaal Baaaad at Tetris(r)"

@StephenTherry

Gotta go back to the 90s to find a switch or hub that looks like that

@StephenTherry depending on which light you hung in your window, you could really piss off a networking person
@StephenTherry if you ever get an apartment in that building, set up red and green lights on both sides of that balcony
@Polychrome Every December or you're gonna look weird.

@StephenTherry

In my town there's an old building for the local phone company that looks like an RJ-11 connector.

@StephenTherry

Hello. Where is this building?

@StephenTherry there 5*9 windows, and I think it's on Robert Jones Parkway. So just call it RJ45 for short.

@StephenTherry

(Adding to the chorus.)

It's really hard to live there, because every apartment is No. RJ45.

Also, every one of them has a door that opens with this little tab that's impossible to manipulate if your hands are cold, and has a tendency to break off, making the apartment inaccessible without a Leatherman.

@StephenTherry
They thought their new apartment was perfect, but no one was ready for ... The Day of the Plug.
@StephenTherry what do ya reckon @SiHalpin ?
@Johnhurley @StephenTherry I’m imagining cable management strategies right now 😂
@StephenTherry i think that's the domain of an architect, not a civil engineer
@StephenTherry That design is created by an architect who clearly wanted to be a network architect and not a building architect.
@StephenTherry It is where the air conditioner goes?!
