Michael Gove let off the hook after awarding £840,000 pandemic contract to associates - Good Law Project

Good Law Project

@goodlawproject

We cannot afford any more disillusionment with our Government, civil service and Judiciary. Supreme Court has let the public down

Stunning they think that nearly £1billion contracts, packed with waste and cronyism not of general public interest.

Lap dog, scaredy cat decision making.

@Fascinatorfun @goodlawproject

You're quite wrong to blame the Civil Service here: it does as it's told by government - it has NO choice - and does its best against against a background of 20+ years of massive cuts, under-investment and overt government hostility to it.

We need to be blaming the guilty, not bodies simply caught up in the government's BS - that just looks like a distraction tactic.

@keithreeder @goodlawproject

Thanks for the lecture. I’ve been a civil servant. Many are excellent and ethical and independent.

Some are lazy. Some are weak and bend due to political expediency.

@Fascinatorfun @goodlawproject

And "some are lazy/weak and bend due to political expediency" does not support or justify you tarring the whole organisation with the same brush, *at all.*

It's a lazy dog-whistle of a kind I hoped I wouldn't see on Mastodon.

@keithreeder

I didn’t. Your mind did.

@Fascinatorfun

You said:

"We cannot afford any more disillusionment with our Government, civil service and Judiciary."

Clearly identifying the whole Civil Service as part of The Problem, when in fact there isn't a single case of the Civil Service, as an entity, being culpable - much less responsible - for the current Tory-inflicted shitshow.

Your jaded personal opinion is not consensus. Roping in the Civil Service as if it had an active hand in where we are now, is disingenuous nonsense.

@goodlawproject Gove, verb (Goved, Goven). Def: To corruptly or otherwise enrich one's friends with public monies. E.g. He Gove £1m to a friend's company for PPE that was not useable by the NHS.
@goodlawproject
Of course he has...these charlatans seem pretty untouchable at present. They are all part of the most powerful 'masonic like' cabal we may ever have known
@goodlawproject of course has, the most amoral corrupt cabinet in history (for the last 10 years ) in their eyes he’s done nothing wrong, the coke snorting snake
@goodlawproject
Hardly know what to say anymore. The last ones who could check a government… refuse to see it’s in the public interest to protect us from cronyism.
@goodlawproject so thankful that you’re willing to do this work for all of us who are appalled at the Westminster government’s blatant corruption.
@goodlawproject Say what? “it was not of general public importance” has the Court lost all common sense? The PPE scandal is VERY much in the public interest. That’s our money that politicians are giving to their friends.
@goodlawproject just straight out corruption at this point. Gove needs locking up.
@goodlawproject depressing, the corruption at play here
