It's bad enough that we conversationalists were dependent on a company that could be taken over by an insane Elon Musk but think of the astronauts whose lives depend on Musk or Russia. Or the Ukrainian soldiers whose communication and lives depend on Musk or Russia. Or the poor pedestrians whose lives will depend on Musk.
@jeffjarvis I would phrase it differently- we don’t depend on Musk. We are vulnerable to his actions. Similar to Trump- we were just fine before him and will be just fine without him if cooler heads prevail but we really need guardrails for the whims of right wing billionaires. That vulnerability can be addressed with others building up other alternatives and checking his power.
@theurv @jeffjarvis it’s almost like our government officials should be pushing for more regulation of industry instead of less…
@theurv @jeffjarvis over @ bird site saw a thread with Graham Lineham talking about how “2023 they were going to win” and provoked a massive argument. Now, I love GL’s writing I think he is or at least was incredibly funny but I just don’t get his desire to stop folk being who or what they want; like what is the problem? Comes across as an absolute twat imo but what was telling was the energy spent by lefties in the thread. Abandon Twitter. It is an energy vampire
@theurv
Yes but the smart billionaires, the ones behind the curtain, we don't see them coming. A little push here, a little pull there and soon they're taking us where they want us to go.
@jeffjarvis
@jeffjarvis overgeneralizing can be dangerous. Those other "industries" seem to be more regulated than social media is. However, I see your point. Unfortunately.
@jeffjarvis The videos of the self driving Teslas running over the silhouettes of toddlers in crosswalks on test tracks are just chilling
@jeffjarvis It takes a lot of compliance from those in nearby orbits. Why aren’t they standing up? $$
@jeffjarvis this experience has certainly made it clear just how foolish one would have to be to have one of these neurolink chips installed
@jeffjarvis Starlink was so attractive a year or so back. Making Optimum Online look okay the way Trump makes ever Republican before him look okay
@jeffjarvis I was thinking this morning about the child in Cincinnati whose father found a kidney donor through #Twitter. For shame to Musk for buying this worldwide #community out of false pride and a desire to quash liberal voices.
@jeffjarvis Twitter was precisely the nexus Elon recognized as a critical step in understanding and manipulating public opinion to achieve global/universal goals.
@jeffjarvis But Elon let his personality and ego override his business acumen for the last few months. Twitter, et al, lost because of his arrogance. 2023, come and get us!
