It's bad enough that we conversationalists were dependent on a company that could be taken over by an insane Elon Musk but think of the astronauts whose lives depend on Musk or Russia. Or the Ukrainian soldiers whose communication and lives depend on Musk or Russia. Or the poor pedestrians whose lives will depend on Musk.
@jeffjarvis I would phrase it differently- we don’t depend on Musk. We are vulnerable to his actions. Similar to Trump- we were just fine before him and will be just fine without him if cooler heads prevail but we really need guardrails for the whims of right wing billionaires. That vulnerability can be addressed with others building up other alternatives and checking his power.
@theurv @jeffjarvis it’s almost like our government officials should be pushing for more regulation of industry instead of less…
@theurv @jeffjarvis over @ bird site saw a thread with Graham Lineham talking about how “2023 they were going to win” and provoked a massive argument. Now, I love GL’s writing I think he is or at least was incredibly funny but I just don’t get his desire to stop folk being who or what they want; like what is the problem? Comes across as an absolute twat imo but what was telling was the energy spent by lefties in the thread. Abandon Twitter. It is an energy vampire
@theurv
Yes but the smart billionaires, the ones behind the curtain, we don't see them coming. A little push here, a little pull there and soon they're taking us where they want us to go.
