About to wrap my first end grain cutting board, a gift for my parents. Made with leftover maple flooring from their house, plus a cherry and walnut border, finished with tung oil. Made a LOT of mistakes with this, but overall I’m pretty happy with how it turned out!

While I’m sharing woodworking presents, here’s a walnut serving tray for my sister that I’m pretty proud of. First bookmatch (resawed it mostly by hand…I need a bandsaw), and I had fun with the contrasting maple splines.

@kyleslattery if you're looking to resaw save up for a nice 14" bandsaw. Those smaller units just don't cut it. Or become a member at a shared shop/maker space/guild/school and use theirs.
@theScam Yeah, that’s what I’m thinking, too. I’ve considered getting an older, cheaper one on Craigslist/FB, but I have a feeling I’d be itching to upgrade pretty soon. Something like the Laguna 1412 or 14bx seems like it would last me a long time. Someday 🙂
@kyleslattery setup a craigslist alert. You never know when a shop will liquidate, someone upgrades, or there is an estate sale. Our local guild runs estate sales and there are some solid prices on well cared for equipment.
