I think Musk has passed the event horizon of the Trump Feedback Loop: You make a series of decisions that alienate smart, competent people & attract a bunch of cranks, weirdos, and deranged halfwits. So you get terrible advice and a skewed view of the world, leading to more decisions that [etc etc]

And I think its made worse by him always having surrounded himself by enablers and yes-men, so the transition was easy.

There are SO MANY stupid things about Tesla's development in the past few years (yoke steering wheels? Fart noises? EVERYTHING about the Cyberduck?).

The only check was outside opinion, and he's basically feedback-looped-himself into insanity now.

@normative Concur. I find it incredible how much his drama mirrors Trump. It was also obvious before he took office that he’d ruin his brand & attract more scrutiny than he had ever imagined possible. Apparently Elon just had to test this playbook out for himself. #PersonalResponsibility
