So perhaps it's time for an #introduction.

My name is Kevin. I'm a public policy professional and I do policy stuff a lot, but more importantly, I am a student of #cooperatives and I study #coops at the Johnson Shoyama Graduate School of Public Policy where I am a PhD candidate.

I live in Vancouver - that's where the "Saltwater City" comes from - and I reflect on the fact that I am a settler on unceded and stolen Musqueam, Squamish, and Tsleil-Waututh lands.

I love #filmphotography 📷 as a form of art and expression. I enjoy the judgmental presence of cats  . #tea is absolutely a passion, a hobby, and a way of life.

I love languages and may try my hand at one or four here. Should be fun.

I remember the old days on the birdsite where we talked to each other rather than at each other, and I look forward to building community here.

@kevin Loved reading your introduction. It must be fascinating to study co-ops. I know that Canada has a strong cooperative history, I once had the pleasure of visiting the original headquarters and museum for Desjardins when I was assisting the Clarkson University Canadian Studies Program in cross-border trips. Lots of co-op folks on social.coop!
@kevin
Fascinating!
I’m building https://www.socialroots.io/ (we’re a worker coop) and about to do some research interviews with other cooperators. Would love to talk!
Socialroots

Coordination is hard. Let's simplify it!

Socialroots
@kevin I remember those days too. And before that, circa 2006, when it was just tech folk and vloggers and early adopters and we were confronted with the endless scroll for the first time. We thought it was a silly project that would fizzle out. I wonder what this place will bring...
@annewalk Here's hoping it's even half the magic and potential but none of the horror.
@kevin nice to meet you!
@maiakbc thank you! pleasure to meet you as well
@kevin so you’re in Saskatchewan but your tag is SaltwaterCity which is Vancouver. How did you end up with it? (I’m from Vancouver, now in the US).
@maiakbc I'm in Vancouver - I study through USask online :) I built up this instance as an experiment and a way to contribute.
@kevin very cool! PhD online is something I have been looking at doing.
@maiakbc I got lucky and started my studies right at the height of C19 so everything *had* to be online. Now that I've done comps, it's a lot easier - though I miss the connection with colleagues.
