Wonder if we’ll see a time where #streamers / #ContentCreators from #Twitch / #YouTube / other platforms all recognize the value of a #mastodon account. Already seeing some people getting uncomfortable with the direction #twitter is headed. If they’re really gonna bury non-subscribers’ posts, won’t it lose all purpose for people unwilling/unable to pay? #videogames #gaming

@revealingtoomuch Last week I started a Github page to list where streamers end up going. The title may say Mastodon, but I'll list non-Twitter socials for any details sent to me. People can DM me here or contact me via my website utopiacraft.io.

@revealingtoomuch Yes, this is going to be an interesting unfolding of events I'm sure.
@slackadelic this notification during stream almost made me uninstall the app.
@revealingtoomuch already there are some moving over, like @EposVox...
@kkarhan @EposVox for sure. EposVox’s guides are gonna help bring a lot of people over, too. Just curious if we’re gonna see a tipping point. If there’ll be a “this is too far” moment.
@revealingtoomuch Well thats why I'm here. Twitter doesn't feel like a very stable place at the moment, so I'm covering all bases.
@Markgfl absolutely same. Just doesn’t seem like a place I should be spending time right now.
@revealingtoomuch On our creator exclusive instance we already house many German #Twitch streamers and #youtube creators and hopefully soon some more english creators. People are definitely interested in Mastodon.
@janik @revealingtoomuch If you can, spread the word about this directory of Twitch streamers I've started at Github. I speak German so I can handle contacts from German speaking Twitch streamers. https://github.com/Prairie-Pirate/twitch-streamers-on-mastodon/blob/main/README.md

@prairiepirate @revealingtoomuch Awesome to see you are curating twitch Streamers for people here on Mastdon. 💪 If you want to you can have a look at our profile directory: https://creators.social/directory There should be all relevant information for our creators if you need it for your list.

@revealingtoomuch most of the streamers I follow seem to be turning to Hive which I get because it's more familiar to the average person. But it would be nice if more people understood that going from one closed platform to another just keeps the door open for the exact same thing to happen to whatever new platform shows up.
@essiparadox that was roughly my experience as well. Saw a bunch of people moving towards Hive. Seems like a nice platform, but certainly not without its issues.
@revealingtoomuch Twitch could start their own Mastodon server, and capture the social media interactions of their streamers. They already have the infrastructure and the moderation.
Not that I would be happy if they'd do it, but it would make business sense.
@heinragas Really good point. Not something I’d want, but definitely agree it’d make sense for them.
@revealingtoomuch most won't leave that platform until forced. The pure numbers are too important for many of them. The other big downside of cutting it completely off is losing some connections with industry people, be it publishers/developers/agencies or other industry folks. It will need to get a lot worse.
@cringer yeah. I don’t even know if I’m at a point where I can leave it completely because of those industry connections. Sigh.

@cringer @revealingtoomuch

Yeah. It mostly only makes sense for more techy Youtube channels tbh. Technology Connections made the jump, but he's got a rather specific audience that was more likely and willing to jump, so he could more easily shift over here, at least to try it on for size. But for gaming Youtubes and streamers, it probably makes little sense for bigger fish to move here, it's a bigger gamble and might shed too much of a casual follower audience.

@revealingtoomuch From my Twitter bubble, most of my Twitch connections reacted to Hive, barely any to Mastodon.

I'm not sure whether Mastodon is a tad too "nerdy" for the generic Twitch streamer, or whether it's not appealing that you kinda also have to work for generating reach? I don't know.

@Halefa that’s been my experience as well. I think one of the biggest things is that mastodon seems like it’s more complicated from the start. Hive just seems easy.
@revealingtoomuch I started it this month as #contentcreator to have something new in social besides the #Youtube channel. Interesting to me: the #musicians, #mixing and #mastering engineers still form communities. Everybody can be part of designing how it will be. I hope we can keep it all open and free (speech) and the server admins moderate wise.
