Why the heck are many places that are giving COVID vaccines, tests, & treatments not requiring masks? These places are higher risk as many of those getting tested or getting treatments likely have COVID. How does it make sense to not try & prevent COVID spread in these places?

@luckytran because nothing - and I mean nothing - makes sense anymore. #wearaN95mask
@luckytran People stopped caring. The issue got politicized and people’s trust in health institutions has been seriously damaged. Get the money out of Politics and maybe we will see some real change rather than politicians “playing the part.”
@luckytran It has been mind-boggling to me as a hospital doc. We had four nurses out recently on one shift group because they are passing COVID and flu back and forth while working around our pregnant patients. They all sit at the nurses' station without masks and subtly bully each other. Ah, Texas.
@luckytran Because one-way masking works.
@_Jordan please don’t be deliberately misleading on this thread. Studies show universal masking is significantly more effective than “one way” masking, a very much needed in high risk areas.
@luckytran I didn’t say universal masking isn’t significantly more effective. But the chances of someone getting a COVID infection wearing an N95 during their vaccine appointment are astonishingly low regardless of anybody else’s masking behavior.
@_Jordan please stop spreading misinformation. COVID has spread in many healthcare sites, so places where you can get vaccines, tests and treatments, which are more likely to have people with COVID, are clearly more high risk when they don’t have universal masking. You are putting you personal preferences over the science by suggesting otherwise.

@_Jordan @luckytran

My partner got infected while wearing her own N95 at hour-long doctor's appointments. Twice. We can prove it since she never goes anywhere else.

Yes, vaccine appointments are usually shorter than an hour, but that's the only advantage they have

@luckytran
They signal an identity as we oldies did in the sixties wearing jeans, colorful t-shirts and a Beetle-like hairstyle.

@luckytran

This is absolutely infuriating to me. It's the reason I don't have the 5th vaccine shot.

I'm extremely careful and one of these unmasked locations would be 100 times the exposure risk I've had in the last 6 months.

Before that, my partner was infected by doctor's offices. Twice. This is unacceptable.

@luckytran I am the only masker in the pharmacy I work in. Not only am I seeing paxlovid scripts, I am filling so many tamiflu and antibiotics- I do not want ANY of those infections. It is baffling as we are also doing a lot of vaccinations- we should all be masked in healthcare to protect our vulnerable patients!
