#JoinIn #toots I am not crazy about using the term “toots”. Can’t we just refer to them as “posts”. When I was little, my family used the term “toot” to refer to farting!

@Doreen32128 Apparently they are changing from Toot to Post. Buttons that did say Toot will be swapping over to Publish to Post.

@Doreen32128 "posts" is my preference as well

before mastodon I didn't know any other definition of toot but apparently it's named after a mastodons trunks trumpeting sound rather than the trumpeting sound coming out of someones trunks

mostly people seem to use post and toot interchangeably so I guess its just down to personal preference

@Doreen32128 the fact that "toot" can also mean "fart" is my favorite part of calling them toots! It reminds me to not take my social media too seriously and they're both hot wind!

Agreed. "Toots" also make me think of farts or the sounds of the blue locomotive from "The Little Engine that Could" children's book.
