Why yes, I may have just accidentally knocked a large tin of dice off the shelf, spilling them into the wood basket, the coal scuttle, behind the furniture, across the floor… However did you know?

I'll be finding these things for years.

Rats. There are six dice missing 😡
OK, we're down to two dice gone AWOL, but my break's over so I'll have to search later. One of them's black which doesn't make things easier. This is going to bug me all day…
Eureka!
I should probably do something to celebrate. Buy myself a new set of dice, maybe…

Hm… Now that I've found the missing dice I seem to have nothing trivial to worry excessively about.

That's not normal, not normal at all.

@BigJackBrass Just wait until you somehow find two identical dice elsewhere in the house... and then have to devise some intricate test to find which are the real ones and which are the impostors...
@DarkestKale Rather than thinking "Cool! Free dice!"?
@BigJackBrass That's how they get you!
@BigJackBrass I tend to think that mimics get a bit of overexposure, but I kinda like the idea of slowly adding replicas of the same dice to a player's pool without them noticing until they say 'wait, how do I have 16 green d6s?'
@BigJackBrass back in the early days of online ukulele forums the noob question “<something something something> Is this normal?” became a meme before people were posting memes.
@BigJackBrass um Jon you said FUDGE dice "come in sets of four" and those are clearly not from the same set what gives
@somedude It's possible—and this will likely shock a fellow RPG player—that I have more than one set.
@BigJackBrass I'm so relieved...
@GeoffCrowther I know you'll have been biting your nails to the quick all night. Glad I could put your nerves at rest after this very difficult time for us all.
@BigJackBrass Looking for lost dice in a home that has cats is like solving a murder. If you don't figure it out in the first 48 hours, your chances of doing so begin to decrease exponentially...
@somedude While checking underneath the rather deep hearthstone overhang with a long stick I unearthed the cat treat that bounced under there last week. Carrie instantly pounced and devoured it.
@BigJackBrass I’m going to have to dig out my dice bag and post a pic of the Fudge dice I made from regular d6s. just takes a permanent marker and a wee bit of patience.
@howlinhobbit Used to be so difficult to buy official ones, didn't it? As well as joining the dots on six-siders to make pluses and minuses I remember printing out paper Fudge dice to assemble. They were less successful.

@BigJackBrass for me there was no difficulty finding the official ones, but the cost was simply silly.

I did buy at least a set (or two?) of them.

@BigJackBrass the fact that you know exactly which dice are missing and their colours says that you’re the sort of person who is going to be bugged by them missing. #TakesOneToKnowOne
@mattjohns It does make it easier that they're Fudge dice, so they come in sets of four. But yes.
@BigJackBrass @mattjohns wow. someone out in the real world that actually uses the Fudge system. I’ve had the book and a bunch of dice for ages and, even back when I was gaming a lot, couldn’t get a group together for a Fudge campaign.
@howlinhobbit @mattjohns I recently ran a game of it for my regular group, using the Deryni Adventure Game based on Katherine Kurtz's novels. They had to retrieve an heirloom ring, believed to have been swallowed by a goat, before its absence was noticed by a rather frantic lady's future mother in law. I'm hoping to run The Princess Bride RPG (also Fudge) for them soon.
