Not sold on these button eyes šŸ¤”

I am thinking maybe I'll make custom buttons and give them dark eyes instead. Or maybe just leave the eyes off altogether.

What do you think?

@lclarke522 when i made the little owls i only gave one of the owls eyes, as if the others were sleeping
@lclarke522 they don't feel ... sleepy enough? I feel like they need eyelids at half-mast.
@lookitmychicken oh, I hadn't thought about sleepy eyes. That's a cool idea.
@lclarke522 I’d get solid front buttons with the shank in the back. Like rounded ones. I think you can get ones that look like eyes.
@tibbi I saw someone else did that on their version of the sweater. It does look nice.
@lclarke522 - They do look a little creepy. How about using a dark thread in the center? Maybe yellow buttons instead of white so they look more owlish.
@AlpacaFiberLover I think even yellow might stand out more than I'd like. I like how realistic yellow eyes are, but realism probably went out the door when I made the owls blue anyway 😁
@lclarke522 @AlpacaFiberLover I think the versions I've liked best of this either had TINY buttons or just stitched eyes. Either way, much smaller in proportion to the body. Doing dark eyes all the way around except for one pair of bright yellow would make for a great focal point...?
@anniebeeknits @AlpacaFiberLover One set of yellow eyes is an interesting idea šŸ¤”

@lclarke522 I mean, owls can look very uncanny when you encounter their eyes glaring out at you from the dark?

Maybe not the effect you wanted for the sweater, though

@Betty very true! But I think I'd prefer a more subtle approach šŸ¤”
