But requiring the IRS to release the tax returns of anyone running for president would pass constitutional muster. And it would be more effective in getting the information released to the public.

It’s not like there wasn’t enough horrible stuff publicly known about him. There was plenty.
It’s not like there would have been consequences for whatever was revealed. Nobody’s ever dared to try and make him pay any real price for his crimes.
I’m not saying he’s invincible. I’m saying he’s treated like he’s invincible too often, and some tax returns wouldn’t have moved the needle on that. I don’t think they will now, either.

@StevenBeschloss never understood why he was was given that privilege to not release his taxes before nominating him. Everyone running for President had to do it. Do you think President Obama would have been able to run if he did not release his taxes? Hell no. The rules should have applied to trump, and we would have been better off as a country without him as ever being President of this country.
